Favorite activities can make you happier, but you can call several activities such as eat junk food, work until late night, and interact with media as hobbies. They not only will bother your physical health, but also your psychological health. That was what psychology professor, Mary Jane Rotheram-Borus from University of California, Los Angeles said.
Research that Rotheram-Borus did, showed that junk food consumption can give 1,000 calorie more than it should be. While excessive media exposure such as reading magazine, tabloid and catalogue also cellphone, computer also gadget usage, can make normal interaction with other people more less. Furthermore, to fulfil these needs, people tend to work harder and longer and even willing to be commuters so they can get bigger income.
To get higher quality life, Rotheram-Borus suggested that we should back to eat at home tradition." Get used to eat at home at night, instead of eating out in restaurant," she said. People also need to pay attention at their calorie intake, choose healthy foods, also get rid of unhealthy foods from our fridge. "If the foods are available at your home, you will be tempted to eat them," Rotheram-Borus said.
Besides that, you also need to balance your life by reducing work overtime and spend more time with family and close friends. "It's important if you have kids. It's because, how can you expect that your children will be healthy and balance generation, if their parents work more than 12 hours a day," Rotheram-Borum said.
